DRIVER DISPLAY UNIT

Driver Display Unit (DDU) used in 3-Phase Electric Locomotives of WAP5, WAP7, WAG9 & WAG9H classes being operated by Indian Railways. The DDU is a man machine interface device able to communicate with locomotive control system through MVB. The LED backlit 10.4” SVGA LCD screen provides better readability even during daylight conditions, thanks to brightness control. The DDU has various pre-defined screens which can be used for investigative monitoring. This Driver Display will work with the following versions (or above) of the locomotive software. It will not work with a lower version of locomotive software.

LOCOMOTIVE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM (LDS)

Locomotive Diagnostic System (LDS-05) is a portable tool designed around a Pentium class processor,having MVB interface gateway which can communicate with MICAS-S2 electronics of three phaselocomotives. The tool works under DOS operating system needed for the MicTools. File transfer is possible through USB drive under DOS environment. For this purpose, the USB thumb drive has to be inserted before booting so that it is recognized as a drive. The equipment can operate either at 110V DC

or at 230V AC 50Hz supply. The 110V DC supply is directly connected through a 3 pin circular connector, whereas, ac input option is through an adapter providing 12V DC.

KU C153 POWER SUPPLY CARD

BUR Power Supply …KU C153 A02: This is presently a backplane mounted power supply having its own heat sink. The machine room air passing through the BUR rack cools this module. The board provides 5 output voltages, viz. +5V DC, +15V DC and +24V DC. While +5V DC is used for the digital circuits, +15V DC is used for the analog circuits and +24V DC is essentially used for powering the relays and transducers. In the functionally equivalent card, use of power bricks/modules from reputed suppliers like Vicor, TDK Lambda, Cosel, Recom etc. of different voltage and power level with suitable cooling and protection also provided.

KU B921 POWER SUPPLY CARD

VCU Power Supply…KU B921 A01: KU B921 A01 is used to power the VCU1/VCU2. There are two such modules in each VCU rack, giving a limited redundancy to certain critical cards like MVB bus coupler, which is powered by both the modules. It occupies two slots (AB, CD). The existing module is made using discrete components. The board provides 5 output voltages, viz. +5V DC, +15V DC and +24V DC. While +5V DC is used for the digital circuits, +15V DC is used for the analog circuits and +24V DC is essentially used for the signal interface of master controller and powering relays. In the functionally equivalent card, use of power bricks/modules from reputed suppliers like Vicor, TDK Lambda, Cosel, Recom etc. of different voltage and power level with suitable cooling and protection PROVIDED.

KU A915 POWER SUPPLY CARD

ALG Power Supply…KU A915 B01: ALG power supply occupies 12T width (3 slots) and is made using discrete components and hybrid micro circuits. There have been obsolescence issues with the hybrid micro circuits. The board provides 5 output voltages, viz. +5V DC, +15V DC and +24V DC. While +5V DC is used for the digital circuits, +15V DC is used for the analog circuits and +24V DC is essentially used for powering the voltage and current sensors of LEM make and relays. In the functionally equivalent card, use of power bricks/modules from reputed suppliers like Vicor, TDK Lambda, Cosel, Recom etc. of different voltage and power level with suitable cooling and protection also provided.

IGBT Speed Sensor

The Hall effect active speed sensor is powered by the power supply from the IGBT based traction converter control electronics (8 to 32 VDC) and output pulse amplitude shall be maintained strong under very adverse conditions like ingress of grease, increse of air gap, misalignment of motor shaft etc. This hall effect active speed sensor can sense the speed close to zero speed sensor measures the speed on the hall effect sensing principle and provides very accurate measurement almost till zero speed.The sensor shall be embedded in housing along with its electronics circuitry for pulse amplification and power circuit and signal conditioning. A tooth wheel having 120 teeth shall be attached to the motor shaft. The output pulses shall be open collector type so that it can be fed directly into the IGBT based traction converter electronics.

N2 POWER SUPPLY BOARD

N2 board is designed and manufactured by Traintech Electronics Pvt ltd , Bangalore for use in the Faiveley based Wheel slide protection (WSP) system. The N2 board is totally equivalent to the Faiveley N2 board and can directly replace it. The N2 power supply is a sub-assembly of the WSP system. This provides the required 5V and 15V power supply to the WPS control boards, when inserted into the assigned slot of the WPS Rack system. The N2 Power Supply has a 25-pin sub-D connector through which input power is applied to it. The outputs and various ON/ OFF control inputs are provided at the rear side Back Plane connector.

AS-PERI CARD(XV A987)

XVA987 is a Drive Converter Controller Peripheral Board H4 commonly known as AS-Peri. It is A standard 6U card used as a part of Bus station Converter equipment. It is connected to Controller H4’s peripheral Bus via Rack backplane. Functions like conversion of wiegand sensor signals to CMOS logic. Protective Shut down inputs with error memory etc are realized on AS Peri.

UF B660 A01:

UF B660 is a redundant multi-channel [5 channels] MVB star coupler with optical output. It has REGA ASIC for signal regeneration, which needs to be replaced with an equivalent functionality programmable logic. UF B660 A01 is mounted in VCU1 & VCU2 and provides MVB optical outputs to two traction converters & three auxiliary converters, besides interconnecting between VCUs.

Windows based Fault Diagnostic tool

The Windows based Fault Diagnostic tool is used in 3-Phase Locomotive of MICAS based Locomotives. This Windows based Fault Diagnostic tool which is suitable for MICAS S2 control system of 3-phase locomotive and does not need any upgradation or modification of the locomotive firmware or application software. This is the unique feature and is very safe as the existing proven software itself will be working in the locomotive.

TERMINAL FAULT INDICATION’ UNIT

The Diagnostic Terminal fault indication is a robust terminal device constructed for harsh environments. A special wide temperature electronic ,a wide temperature LCD (4*40 characters, LED backlight) and switch panel {max 32 keys} with EMI protection are used to meet the EN50155 and the IEC 801-x specification.

Distributed Power Wireless Control System

Distributed Power Wireless Control System (DPWCS) used in 3-Phase Electric Locomotives [of WAG9, WAG9H, WAP7 & WAP5 classes] being operated by Indian Railways. The DPWCS System is designed to increase the throughput of the railway line tremendously without much additional input. DPWCS operation enables heavy haul with minimum coupler forces. Under DPWCS scheme, locomotives are distributed at different points in a long train and controlled through wireless from the master, and slave locomotive crew can be eliminated, if desired.

DPWCS complete system consists:

  1. Control & Communication Unit (CCU)
  2. Brake Interface Unit (BIU)
  3. Driver Interface unit (DIU)
  4. Pressure Sensor Unit (PSU)

1. Control & Communication Unit (CCU)

Control & Communication Unit is the heart of DPWCS. It takes all the commands and status information from Loco-Pilot (LP), Driver Interface Unit (DIU), Brake Interface Unit (BIU) and LOCO through MVB and 485 communication. It processes on the inputs data and transmit/receives depending on the operating modes (MASTER/SLAVE/MAIN/STANDBY).

2. Brake Interface Unit (BIU)

Brake Interface Unit is the unit that takes the Brake and pressure value as input in master mode and injects the master brake value in slave mode. There are two processor modules in the BIU viz. BRAKE MAIN and BRAKE SENTINAL. BRAKE_MAIN does all the controlling function where as the BRAKE SENTINAL monitors the brake status.

3. Driver Interface unit (DIU)

DIU is an interface between the driver and DPWCS. The DIU acts as terminal, simply to receive and display information from CCU (Control & Communication Unit) and send driver input to CCU. DIU has 1024 x 768 resolution capacitive touchscreen along with keypad support for redundancy. It supports ESD/EMD MVB or serial 485 Communication.
